    is Antique 19
    th
    Century Islamic Ottoman Empire Balance Beam Steelyard Scale. The pan and the arm have inscriptions in Arabic letters, coat of arms of the Ottoman Empire, and a year according to the Hijri calendar in Arabic numerals on the arm - 1282 or 1283 (not clear) which is 1865/66 AD. The balance weight is 62 gr. Probably it was made somewhere in the Levant and not in the territory which is a modern day Turkey. It is unknown to me whether the main parts are made of brass or bronze; the chain is an iron no doubt. It looks like it is a complete set that forms this unique item.
    Condition:
    Used and in relatively good condition, there is light patina on the
